Check drinking water in the company building (Workplace Ordinance)

As an employer, you have a duty of care for your employees. This also includes the quality of drinking water in the workplace. This practical example shows how an inspection is planned and carried out in the company building.

Initial situation

As part of the duty of care under the German Workplace Ordinance (ArbStättV), an employer wants to check whether the drinking water quality in the workplace is in order. Typical tapping points are tea kitchens, social rooms, washing areas, showers, drinking water dispensers or rarely used taps.

Procedure

First, we record the use of the building, the number of tapping points and the type of hot water preparation. On this basis, we create an analysis concept. Depending on the tapping point and usage, microbiological parameters, chemical parameters or legionella are examined.

Result

You receive documentation in the form of an inspection report for occupational health and safety, building management and internal hygiene. If complaints are identified, we will support you in investigating the causes and carrying out follow-up inspections.
