Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why is legionella testing in buildings important?
Legionella can cause serious health problems such as pneumonia. Regular legionella tests in accordance with the German Drinking Water Ordinance (TrinkwV) help to identify and minimise the risk of infection at an early stage, thereby protecting the health and safety of building users.
Which buildings require regular drinking water testing for legionella?
According to the German Drinking Water Ordinance (TrinkwV), commercial properties, public buildings and apartment blocks with centralised drinking water heating in particular are obliged to carry out regular legionella tests. This applies in particular to buildings with showers or drinking water dispensing facilities.
What does a hazard analysis in accordance with the German Drinking Water Ordinance and VDI/DVGW 6023 involve?
A risk analysis comprises the systematic examination and assessment of the drinking water installation in the building. The aim is to identify potential risks and weak points and recommend measures to improve hygiene and safety in order to ensure the health of users.
How often do drinking water installations need to be tested?
The Drinking Water Ordinance stipulates that drinking water systems must be tested for legionella at least every three years. In the event of anomalies or higher risk assessments, shorter test intervals may be necessary to ensure a permanently safe water supply.
